South America is a very exotic place and one of the favorite holiday destinations for many. If you want to visit a place in South America that will suffice your trekking needs, then you have to look no further than Peru. This country with exquisite cuisine also has excellent treks which will make your visit worth it.

On this article we are going to review the most interesting treks in Peru, so you can start organizing your next travel to this place. The unique thing you need to remember is to be careful, because most of the treks we are about to describe are really different to what you can find in other parts of the world.

The Colca Canyon:

  • Starting point: Arequipa
  • Difficulty: Relatively Easy
  • N° days: Two

If you want to start smoothly, then you should travel to Arequipa and choose the Colca Canyon as your first trek. It’s not as hard as the other places we are going to describe in the rest of this article, but it’s also a nice challenge, especially for those who are getting started. But for the most seasoned trekkers, it will be only a fun ride.

Anyway, you can use this as a chance to visit Arequipa. This city is very interesting and also has very delicious dishes you should check out.

Santa Cruz Trek:

Santa Cruz Trek

  • Difficulty: Moderately hard.
  • N° days: Four

The Santa Cruz trek is another interesting spot. If you are a newcomer, then you may want to go to the Colca first and then this one, because the Santa Cruz is kind of hard.

You will need to have a good stamina if you want to make it to the top. But it will be a memory that you will never forget. You will feel the rush of adrenaline running through your body. You will have to deal with the cold, but it will be a very nice experience especially if you go with a big group. This will be good and also make your trek safer – never go alone to these zones. You will be only inviting a disaster to happen.

Salcantay – Machu Picchu Trek:

Another interesting Trek near to Machu Picchu. It’s considerably harder than Santa Cruz, but not impossible. You will be able to enjoy of a privileged view once you get to the top of the place. You will have to walk for quite a lot of time, but it will be worth it.

Visiting Salcantay is more interesting and exciting when in done with a big group. And you should also do it in order to protect yourself from danger. Doing this trek alone is irresponsible and totally bad. Never do it on your own, you are just waiting for a disaster to happen.

That’s all we had to share with you today! Also, if you have the time, you should give Ica a visit and try a trek in Huacachina, which is the oasis from this city.
